Assassin’s Creed Origins Featured in The Cleopatra Mystery Exhibit at the Arab World Institute

Assassin's Creed Origins' Ptolemaic Egypt has no shortage of famous historical figures including Ptolemy XIII and Julius Caesar, but it's the Ptolemaic dynasty's most famous queen, Cleopatra, that's the subject of a new exhibit at the Arab World Institute (IMA) in Paris. Running now until January 11, 2026, "The Mystery of Cleopatra" is the museum's biggest exhibit of the year and explores the myths and realities around Cleopatra's life and reign. Visitors to the exhibit will be greeted by a six-minute video specially created from Assassin's Creed Origins, which depicts Alexandria under Cleopatra and features the city's famous lighthouse, library, and royal palace. Subtitles in English and French written by a team of historians including the exhibition co-curator, Christian-Georges Schwentzel, guide the viewers through the streets of Alexandria and its monuments.

"This tailor-made film from Assassin's Creed Origins is highly engaging and historically accurate," says Schwentzel. "It allows the public to explore Cleopatra's capital, both on foot and from the air. This reconstruction of a prestigious city, now almost completely lost, with its emblematic monuments, such as the Lighthouse, the Library and the Royal Palace, but also the atmosphere, life and sounds of its streets, offers visitors an absolutely unique experience.

"The film also fits logically into the first room of the exhibition, dedicated to history, which begins with a reference to Alexander the Great, founder of Alexandria and precursor of Cleopatra's glory. The Ubisoft video ends in the mausoleum of Alexander the Great, a reminder of the relationship between the famous conqueror and the no less famous sovereign, who presented herself as his last heir. So, in this first exhibition room, the story comes full circle."

Featuring rare artifacts from the Ptolemaic era, The Cleopatra Mystery examines Cleopatra through a historical lens, but also looks at her lasting legacy in pop culture with contemporary creations inspired by the titular queen. The exhibition marks the third collaboration between Ubisoft and IMA who previously co-created the exhibition, Baghdad: A Journey Back to Madinat al-Salam, with Assassin's Creed Mirage in 2024.

To meet Cleopatra and explore Ptolemaic Alexandria for yourself, pick up Assassin's Creed Origins on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It's also available as part of a Ubisoft+ subscription.
