Ubisoft Shares Initiatives to Bring New Voices to the Video Game Industry

As a company, Ubisoft recognizes the importance of welcoming and supporting a more diverse group of people in our industry, teams and communities. With more than 40 studios and offices around the world, we have always believed that bringing together teams with different cultures and backgrounds makes us stronger and pushes us to create games that are more surprising, captivating and inclusive.

To help bring new voices to Ubisoft and ensure they thrive, we are proud to announce a new edition of the Womxn Develop at Ubisoft mentorship. This program aims to attract and develop diverse new talent for our studios around the world. Successful applicants receive mentorship from Ubisoft experts across programming and game design, in addition to hands-on game development experience working on industry leading AAA games. The program will launch next Monday, September 14 in San Francisco, Kyiv, Odesa and Toronto, and will be expanded to Ubisoft’s other studios, starting with Paris in January.

Ubisoft will also double its investment in the Ubisoft Graduate Program, an international two-year program for recent graduates who are seeking to launch a career in the games industry. With this increased investment, Ubisoft will focus on creating more opportunities for individuals from underrepresented groups. Since 2014, the Graduate Program has provided talented new team members the opportunity to accelerate their career Project Management, UX Design, Online Programming and Gameplay Programming. Graduates have the opportunity to work in two studios in two different countries, are provided an individual development plan, and receive mentorship from industry experts.

With more people playing games than ever before, it is our responsibility to build inclusive teams capable of creating games that reflect the diverse and complex world we live in. We recognize this is just the beginning, and we will continue to provide regular updates on steps we are taking to become a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive company.

To learn more about how Ubisoft is working to make these changes, please watch the message from Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot in Ubisoft Forward here.
