This Week at Ubisoft: Rainbow Six Siege Rengoku Event, Riders Republic New Season Live Now

This week at Ubisoft, Rainbow Six Siege kicked off its second Rengoku event with more Operators and kunai than ever before; Riders Republic launched its new season; Ubisoft+ added two new indie games to its library; and Ubisoft Connect announced an update. Check it all out and more in this week's roundup of Ubisoft News.

Rainbow Six Siege Rengoku Event Live Now with More Operators and Kunai

Rainbow Six Siege's Rengoku event has returned, bringing ninja-themed gameplay to the tactical shooter now through July 19. In the event, your team of five needs to secure Altars in the Floating Temple and protect them from enemy teams. You can choose one of 14 Operators, who will wield new Kunai that have special abilities, like one-shotting an enemy, destroying a wall, or enacting area-of-effect attacks similar to frag grenades, flashbangs, or Tachanka's shumikha launcher. All Operators have the same speed and health stats, use shotguns, can climb through hatches, and come with exclusive skins.

Riders Republic Season 7, Chillin', Live Now

[UN] [Multiple Titles] - Weekly Recap June 30 - RR

Riders Republic Season 7, Chillin', launched on June 27, bringing new content to the Ridge and its players, including a revamped introduction, new icons, and a seasonal hub. Now, all sports and career options are unlocked immediately for all players, letting them choose what they want to start with. To help players keep track of their career in this new system, the career progression system has been reworked to be more linear, making it easier to track events you've already done and the ones you still need to do. Riders Republic Chillin' also adds Live Arenas, which are open-ended play zones with a score objective players have to hit within a certain time limit.

The Next Evolution of Ubisoft Connect is Here

[UN] [Multiple Titles] - Weekly Recap June 30 - UbisoftConnect Beta

On June 26, Ubisoft announced the Ubisoft Connect PC Beta, an update to the platform that will bring changes to its library, social features, video playback options, and more. Ubisoft News spoke to Creative Director Charles Huteau about the project, who emphasized that many of these changes were driven by feedback from players, and he hopes that feedback continues during the Beta.

Ubisoft+ Adds Shadow Tactics and AER Memories of Old

[UN] [Multiple Titles] - Weekly Recap June 30 - UbisoftPlus Indies

Every month, Ubisoft+ adds two indie games to its growing library; this month, it added Shadow Tactics and AER Memories of Old. In Shadow Tactics, you take on the role of a samurai commander tasked with hunting down the warlord Kage-sama. With a team of five fighters, you'll need to carefully decide which characters to send on each mission in order to take a tactical approach to victory. In AER Memories of Old, you become the last living shapeshifter in a world that has been destroyed, and only floating islands and ancient ruins remain. Now, you must traverse what's left of the world to unravel the mysteries of the old gods, how the world ended, and what you can do to stop it from happening again.

Ubisoft+ Spotlight - Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones

(Editorial note: This is a series of quick weekly highlights written by Ubisoft News team writers that feature games available with a Ubisoft+ subscription. We hope you'll enjoy reminiscing with us, or perhaps discover something new.)

Brittany Spurlin, Writer/Editor: The third chapter in the Sands of Time trilogy (and the last adventure in the timeline), Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones follows the events of Warrior Within, after the Prince has prevented Empress Kaileena from creating the sands. He has returned to a war-torn Babylon where the events of The Sands of Time never took place, and the still-alive Vizier has become an immortal monster. During the Vizier's transformation, the Prince is infected by the Sands, creating the Dark Prince, an alter ego with the Daggertail whip fused to his arm. Now, he must fight his way through Babylon to take out the Vizier once and for all.

The addition of the Dark Prince is one of the most fascinating parts of Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. For one, he represents all of the Prince's darker desires and ambitions, and is constantly looking to take permanent control over the Prince's body. Second, he changes up gameplay quite a bit, having different abilities than the Prince. While the Prince is in his normal state, he can dual-wield weapons; as the Dark Prince, he can only use one in addition to the Daggertail. Not only can the razor-sharp whip take out enemies from a distance, the Dark Prince can also use it to manipulate objects and traverse whatever environment he's in. Additionally, when the Dark Prince is in control, you'll continuously lose health (even when not in battle), eventually dying if you don't collect enough Sand. While you can't change into the Dark Prince at will, once transformed, you can always revert back to normal by stepping into water.

You can play Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones today with a Ubisoft+ subscription.
