Ghost Recon Breakpoint is now available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Starting today, you’ll be able to explore the archipelago of Auroa, fight against an army of drones, and take down Lt. Col. Cole D. Walker (played by Jon Bernthal) and his deadly Wolves.
When the USS Seay mysteriously sinks off the coast of the fictional archipelago of Auroa, the CIA launches Operation Greenstone to discover what is happening on the island headquarters of Skell Tech. As your fully customizable Ghost, Nomad, it’s up to you to investigate the situation on Auroa. As it turns out, your former brother-in-arms, Walker, has taken hostile control of the island. Now it’s up to you (and up to three other friends) to find out what happened and put an end to it.
The entire campaign is playable solo or with up to four players in co-op. Breakpoint also features Ghost War PVP, which pits two teams of four against each other on an increasingly shrinking map to see who the best Ghost is. In Breakpoint, all progress, gear, and weapons are shared across PVP and PVE. That means the same Ghost you’re playing with to take down the Wolves is the same Ghost you’ll be fighting with against other players online.
The Wolves and their drone army aren’t the only threat you’ll face on Auroa. With its diverse biomes, steep slopes, and inclement weather, the archipelago itself can prove to be just as troublesome as the enemies that are actively hunting you. To get around safely, you’ll need to manage your stamina, prepare for missions by carefully adjusting your skills and loadout, and loot weapons and gear to improve your loadout.
Luckily, as a Ghost, you’re far from defenseless. As you progress, you’ll increase your gear level and unlock better weapons and gear, as well as level-up in each of the four starting classes. Breakpoint launches with four classes: Assault, Panther, Sharpshooter, and Field Medic. Classes comes with a unique class technique, item, and proficiencies that give each one different situational strengths. You can unlock all classes, and switch between them at a bivouac to suit your needs.
Launch is just the beginning for what Breakpoint has to offer. Post-launch content will soon roll out and provide regular updates. The first major release, Episode One, will introduce Project Titan, the first raid to come to any Ghost Recon game, along with new Faction missions, PVP updates, and the first new class, Engineer. It will also include a live event featuring the Terminator. Episode One kicks off today for Year One Pass owners with the introduction of the Engineer class, and will continue to introduce more content in the coming months. Episodes Two and Three will offer two new Adventures, two new classes, several PVP updates, new endgame content, and various live events.
Episode One will be entirely free for all players, while Year One Pass owners will have access to all Year One Adventures and their rewards, including one-week early access to the three new classes and instant unlock of the Siren’s Call mission and the Special Operations. Additionally, Year One Pass owners can invite their friends to play the upcoming Adventures with them, but players who don’t own the Pass won’t be able to earn their unique rewards.
Those who want the ultimate Breakpoint experience can head to the Ubisoft Store and pick up the Wolves Collector’s Edition. The edition comes with the Ultimate Edition of the game, a 24cm figurine of Cole D. Walker, an exclusive steelbook, game soundtrack, three lithographs, waterproof map, and Walker’s dog tag.
