Assassin's Creed Origins' story continues on January 23, when The Hidden Ones expansion launches for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Set four years after the events of the main campaign, The Hidden Ones adds a new region to the map – the Sinai – as well as new missions, weapons, a new outfit, and more. It also raises the level cap from 40 to 45, giving Bayek more room to grow as he and his new Assassin Brotherhood face off against a force of Roman occupiers. The Hidden Ones will also be foreshadowed in a free quest, Incoming Threat, coming soon to all Assassin's Creed Origins players.
Available as part of the Season Pass or as a separate $9.99 purchase, The Hidden Ones is intended for players close to level 40, so be ready for a tough challenge if you're not there yet. In addition to the new level cap, two new crafting levels have been added to Bayek's gear, and the Sinai holds new armaments (including four new Legendary weapons) as well as new mounts and a new outfit. Also, any progression you make or weapons you find will stay with you if you decide to switch back to pursuing the central campaign, potentially making you the most powerful being in Egypt.
Release dates for future expansions have been revealed as well. Discovery Tour by Assassin's Creed: Ancient Egypt, the educational expansion that transforms the game into a violence-free living museum, will be out on February 20. Letting you dig into the reality of Cleopatra's Egypt with guided tours curated by Egyptologists and historians (or just free-roam through Ancient Egypt), the new mode will be free to all Assassin's Creed Origins owners, or can be purchased for PC as a standalone game for $19.99 on Uplay or Steam.
On March 6, the story continues with a second expansion, The Curse of the Pharaohs, which pits Bayek against mythical beasts and undead pharaohs in a strange new realm. Available with the Season Pass or as a $19.99 purchase, The Curse of the Pharaohs will also raise the level cap and introduce new abilities, letting you push Bayek even further.
In addition to the paid expansions, Assassin's Creed Origins will soon add a variety of free content, including Incoming Threat, the return of Trial of the Gods, and more. Assassin's Creed Origins is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC; to find out more, check out our previous coverage.
