The Division 2’s limited-time Cherry Blossom event is now live! Running through May 12, the event will bring Kitsunebi and Ronin attacks, new caches, a community challenge, and, of course, cherry blossoms decorating Washington DC. As an added bonus, every player who logs in during the event will receive the Rising Sun Headgear.
Cherry Blossom Gameplay: Kitsunebi Ambushes and Ronin Attacks
The city’s new decorations are serene – until a squad of five Kitsunebi Named Enemies track you down and attack. A splinter group of Outcasts, they’ll engage you in combat roughly every 10 minutes, and have distinct fighting traits. Their Shared Health Link means that damage issued to one enemy will be spread out among the group, making it harder to take them out. However, their tech is highly unstable and will occasionally malfunction, causing a shock to the individual enemy and temporarily breaking the Shared Health Link. That’s your time to strike, isolating them from the group to take them out.
If you fight long enough, the Ronin will arrive. You’ll get a prompt to call for backup to help you take on these much stronger foes. When they appear, the cherry blossom petals will turn dark blue, the game audio will change, and your encounter will begin. There are two Ronin, and they’re more deliberate, more resilient, and more equipped to sustain themselves in longer fights. Solo Agents will face one Ronin, while groups will take on the Fox Ronin and the Red Ronin simultaneously.
Taking out Ronin can earn you:
- Event Keys
- Unique Skill VFX Skins tied to each boss
- Fox Ronin: Drone, Turret
- Red Ronin: Hive, Seeker Mine
Cherry Blossom Exploration
There’s more to this event than fighting the Kitsunebi and Ronin. Cherry blossoms are scattered across Washington DC, and 40 of them are corrupted and in need of restoration. Some of these are in obvious locations, while others are tucked away and easy to miss unless you’re looking for them. Interacting with corrupted cherry blossoms will make nearby enemies more likely to notice you, and their petals will begin to fall when the encounter begins.

Each interaction will contribute to your overall event progress, and restoring all cherry blossoms in DC will earn you the Cherry Arm Patch. For those who want to keep up the exploration after that achievement, three new decorations will reactivate daily at 1:00AM PST.

Otsuichi, Rezina, and Mobilmobil Creator Collaboration
The Division 2 has teamed up with community creators Otsuichi, Rezina, and Mobilmobil to bring unique activities and rewards to the game, running now through May 12. Each creator has their own Project Chain, which will take you across Washington DC and task you with specific activities in Named Zones. Next steps in the Project Chain will be revealed daily, and each step will build on the last. However, once a project is available, it will remain available until the event ends.
Rewards for Project Chains include:
- Named Item Caches
- Exotic Components
- Recalibration Caches
- Optimization Caches
Completing all six projects in a chain will earn you an exclusive backpacked themed after that creator.
As you explore the city, you’ll find themed rewards and creator-themed apparel like caps, shirts, and hoodies. Plus, the creators will be sharing codes for an exclusive arm patch on their own channels, so be sure to give them a follow!
