Assassin’s Creed Origins offers a glimpse into life in Ptolemaic Egypt, including its people’s views on death and the role of mummification in their society. Recently, Ubisoft collaborated with the Musée de l’Homme on their Mummies exhibition, which highlights mummies from different times and cultures. Inspired by Discovery Tour: Ancient Egypt, Ubisoft developed a bespoke nine-minute interactive and educational installation illustrating the stages of the ancient Egyptian embalming process, from washing the body to placing protective amulets. Visitors can navigate freely through the process, which takes place on a large wall display with a tactile screen. The installation draws on Assassin’s Creed Origins’ collaboration with historians, archeologists, and Egyptologists to create an immersive, historical experience for visitors of all ages.
The Musée de l’Homme is part of the Natural History Museum in Paris and serves as a center for research, education, and culture around the concept of human evolution as well as a space to examine the past, present, and future of human society. The Mummies exhibition opened in November 2025 and runs through May 2026, and invites ethical discussion about the preservation and display of human remains.
The collaboration between Ubisoft and the Musée de l’Homme is founded on the shared principle of making history accessible and connecting modern audiences with these ancient civilizations through innovative technology. This exhibit, along with past similar collaborations with the British Library, Arab World Institute, and the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens, among others, shows how video games can be the perfect avenue for achieving those goals.
