Space Junkies Arcade is bringing its unique brand of jetpack-enabled, zero-G, virtual-reality arena shooting to VR arcades worldwide, giving players a taste of what's in store for VR-enabled PCs later this year. Featuring 1:1 motion controls that let players reach out and grab a wide variety of floating sci-fi weapons, go toe-to-toe with laser swords and shields, and outmaneuver each other in orbital arenas, Space Junkies Arcade is a fast-paced test of skill that pits four players against each other, either in teams or in free-for-all battles.
Speaking of competition, Space Junkies is also teaming up with the Virtual Athletics League to collaborate on a Space Junkies International 2v2 Tournament, giving teams of two players the chance to enter and compete for more than $4,500 in prizes. Tryouts for the tournament are now open at participating VR arcades, and will run until February 19. The tournament for registered teams will then run from February 19 to March 6. Playoffs will begin on March 11, running until the Grand Finals on March 15.
Space Junkies will launch later this year on PC, and is compatible with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and Windows MR headsets. For more on Space Junkies, check out our previous coverage.
