The Division 2: Echoes of Central Park is coming on November 3, the darkest, most disturbing DLC yet, inviting you to explore one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks for the first time in franchise history. The story explores the idea of a society so gripped by paranoia of an unknown sinister threat. Fear feeds on itself until rumors become truth. In a first for The Division 2, Echoes of Central Park takes place in the form of a flashback as a narrator guides you through her version of events.
With a much larger map than Battle for Brooklyn, Central Park has transformed from a symbol of the city into a place of decay and mystery, with terrifying rumors about a new virus variant. The map includes Central Park and the Upper West Side from Lincoln Square to the Dakota District, and citizens are terrified as enemy faction members, friends and family turn up dead or go missing in brutal ways. When the Division intercepts a distress signal from deep within the park, SHD agents are deployed to confront the mysterious entities – and the urban myths surrounding them – in an eerie new adventure that brings new features, new skill variants and gear, and a narrative twisted by fear to The Division 2.
Explore the Upper West Side and Central Park
You’ll start your adventure in the Upper West Side, an urban landscape featuring some of the most iconic streets of New York City – now overgrown as Central Park expands beyond its original barriers to reclaim the city. In the Upper West Side, you'll also be able to complete missions in some of the area's most famous landmarks.
Far from the urban oasis we know today, The Division 2’s Central Park is overgrown and reclaimed by nature, surrounded by unsettling rumors and sinister tales. Originally used as a mass burial ground during the outbreak, the last known presence in the park has gone silent, and fear haunts the park as a new apex threat took up residence, lurking in the shadows. Set in the summer after Warlords of New York, you’ll have to confront this formidable new force, as well as take on familiar foes, to find out what really happened in Central Park.
You can play Echoes of Central Park solo or in co-op. If you’re below Level 40, you’ll get a boost, allowing you to start the DLC immediately and making sure you’re equipped to take on the challenge.
Fight With Unique Companions
You won’t be facing the mysterious threat alone. Three reluctant heroes will help you on your mission, but if you want them to fight, you’ll need to help them confront their inner demons and find their courage again. Each companion has a unique past and fighting style; in combat, each one can deliver powerful support that will make your path to victory much smoother. These companions are:
- Brayleigh Callahan – A Sniper who is an MIT graduate and Olympian medalist in shooting
- Elwood Franklin – A Protector who was a former mall cop, but aspires to become an NYPD officer
- Morse Feeney – An Assault who is a rugged veteran and former, first wave Division agent with a mysterious past
For a different experience when you replay missions, assign a new companion to fight by your side, as each one will react to the situation at hand differently, giving you a unique experience each time. Outfits inspired by these companions, as well as a skin for the new exotic weapon, are available in Echoes of Central Park Deluxe Edition.
A New Endgame Experience
When you first enter Central Park, you’ll be fighting just to survive. As hunted prey with no GPS, facing down a constant flood of enemies, you’ll need to learn more about the threat you’re facing and collect gear to help you face them down. Armed with knowledge of the park and your new gear, you’ll become the hunter, giving you more control about how you take on the challenges ahead.
And how well you do in these encounters matter – do well, and you’ll receive exclusive rewards, but you’ll get a disadvantage moving forward if you don’t. With encounters like these affecting your path forward, Echoes of Central Park offers a unique endgame experience that gives you a reason to return to the Upper West Side and Central Park again and again after you finish the main campaign.
New Skills and Gear
By defeating the forces inhabiting Central Park and their twisted abilities, you can earn six new skill variants such as the Corrosive Trap and the Gas Bomber, inspired by the horrors you’ll face. Echoes of Central Park also introduces new gear including The Ratel, a new Exotic Weapon, and anew gear set.
