Ubisoft is teaming up once again with mental health charity Safe In Our World (SioW) to combat in-game toxicity and help kids and teens stay safe, while advising parents how they can help and support their children. The Good Game Playbook was first released in 2023, combining Ubisoft's expertise with that of gaming industry and mental health experts at SioW, empowering players to navigate the difficulties of negative experiences online and encourage taking steps to ensure better mental health. The most recent edition comprises three different volumes to provide practical and direct support to kids, teens, and adults, adapting advice to each different audience.
The guides will be shared at key moments throughout the player journey, serving as a resource to encourage respectful and positive interactions. Parents who have signed up for monthly activity reports on their child's Ubisoft account will also be provided with the content in the report email. Additionally, you'll be able to download and read each of the three documents at any time from Ubisoft's dedicated page or SioW’s website.
Ubisoft's Player Safety Director Jérémy Marchadier said of the initiative "Expanding the Good Game Playbook to parents, teens and kids marks a new step in our mission to make online gaming a safer and more positive space for everyone. By empowering families with the right tools and insights, and through our continued partnership with Safe In Our World, we want to help the next generation of players build empathy, respect and healthier gaming habits."
Meanwhile, SioW Partnerships & Training Manager Sky Tunley-Stainton says the charity was "thrilled to join forces with Ubisoft again to produce new Good Game Playbooks, this time aimed at kids and teens, and parents. It's part of Safe In Our World's mission to support gamers and ensure they can play the games they love while maintaining their wellbeing: addressing this with children and young people is crucial for building skills that will see them well into adulthood. It has also been so valuable to work on a resource designed to support parents and guardians working together with their kids to set healthy boundaries."
The Good Game Playbooks are available now and can be downloaded from Ubisoft's dedicated page. If you're a parent and want information about Ubisoft's other features to support protecting your child online, find out more about the Family Center through Ubisoft's help pages.
