The Division 2 Year 8 Season 3, Red Horizon, is here, threatening to bring a burning disaster to Washington D.C. That’s right – the Cleaners, who have until now only operated in New York City, have moved south to the nation’s capital. Now, agents will have to defend the city from spreading flames and attacking Cleaners. In Red Horizon, take on a new Elite Kill Squad, experience a new Blackout Dark Zone, reap the benefits from a Conflict rewards update, participate in limited-time events, collect new gear and rewards, and more.
Red Horizon
Exclusively during Red Horizon, Cleaners roam D.C.’s open world, engaging in activities, taking control points, and initiating Retaliations. They will also passively accumulate Agitation instead of Black Tusk during other faction Retaliation based on kills and Control Point Retakes.
The Cleaner’s presence also means a new Elite Kill Squad. Called 95 Company, they will invade other faction Retaliations.
New Modifiers
With the arrival of the Cleaners, Red Horizon is also introducing new modifiers to change how you interact with the world. These include:
- 1 Global Modifier: A pressure gauge will grant growing bonuses for completing actions (such as headshot kills, multi-kills, or grenade kills), but it will decay if you spend too much time out of cover
- 3 Active Modifiers: Can be activated once the Pressure Gauge reaches a certain threshold, then delivers powerful buffs like Damage Resistance, spreading burn damage, and increased weapon damage and shield health.
- This season, Active Modifiers won’t have cooldowns
- 3 Hostile Modifiers: These buffs will negatively impact your stats and Pressure Gauge, and will aid your enemies by decreasing your magazine, overhealing enemies, and debuffing your damage output.
- To permanently remove or revert these effects, set your enemy on fire
- 20 Passive Modifiers – these are passive buffs that can impact the Pressure Gauge and grant buffs to various items or skills, among other things

Dark Zones Update
The PvE Toxic Dark Zones introduced in Into the Dark are here to stay, with a few adjustments, and a new Blackout Dark Zone is coming to the rotation.
Toxic Dark Zones (PvE)
- Toxic Dark Zones are permanently staying in the rotation
- The Toxicity mechanic will remain, but with less intensity
- Season-specific mechanics (such as cannisters) will be removed
- From now on, all enemy factions can be found in Toxic Dark Zones
- Rogue protocols will remain deactivated, shifting to focus on cooperative survival
Blackout Dark Zones
- Tailored for players who want to unleash the full power of their advanced builds in Dark Zones
- Normalization is disabled, so SHD Watch and Expertise levels are fully Active
- Prototype gear will be allowed at its full strength in terms of augments and attributes, with special PvP overrides to ensure balance
Balanced Dark Zones
- Remain unchanged, staying the ultimate destination for competitive, skill-based combat
Classified Assignments
Red Horizon will bring two new Classified Assignments to The Division 2. The first, The District Mall Inferno, is live now. The Mall is under attack from Cleaners, and a fellow SHD Agent needs backup to complete his mission and make it out unscathed. The second Classified Assignment, the Georgetown Dead Zone, will go live later this season.
Crossplay Update
Crossplay is coming to The Division 2 in November! More details will be shared at a later date.
