The Division 2 free weekend is live now through November 4 on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC via Ubisoft Connect. This week marks the launch of Season 2 of Year 6 - titled Shades of Red - which introduces a new seasonal progression system available to all Division 2 players (not just owners of the Warlords of New York expansion). With a new structure, new challenges, and new rewards, the seasonal journey will offer a different twist on the core mechanics of the game with each new season. Players will keep any progress made during the free weekend, and can take advantage of discounts on console stores as well as on Steam and the Ubisoft Store (starting on November 5) if they want to continue their fight to save Washington, D.C. and New York after the free weekend concludes.
The seasonal journey of Shades of Red contains seven sequential missions, each with eight objectives to fulfill. Players can attack the missions head-on, or enable the new modifier system for a unique spin on the core gameplay loop. The theme of this season is "range" and is represented across the four modifier categories: Global, Active, Passive, and Hostile, some of which evolve as players progress through their journey. These modifiers can affect both the players' and the enemies' abilities and buffs in order to spice up the combat dynamics; modifiers can also be disabled at any time.
Shades of Red also introduces Priority Objectives. Available upon reaching level 30, these objectives offer a way to acquire XP, season pass XP, items, resources, and passive modifier unlocks. Players can choose from among three objective choices based only on limited information; full details are revealed once they're chosen, and the system allows for re-rolls should the player want to take on a different challenge than the one selected.
Furthermore, new narrative threads will continue to weave the ongoing story of The Division 2; in Shades of Red, the antagonist Aaron Keener is currently in custody at the White House, and is offering to talk under the condition that The Division locate and secure his former team members, starting with Theo Parnell. Players can advance the story by tackling Manhunt Scouts, weekly missions comprised of three activities and a small riddle that reward players with equipment, XP, materials, and collectibles. Finishing all the weekly Scouts in a season will unlock the Manhunt Climax Mission, beyond which awaits a new difficulty level to take on in the Master Climax Mission; surmount this new challenge to earn an exclusive reward - the Provocator Exotic Chest.
A new exotic weapon (the assault rifle, Strega) and new exotic gear (the Centurion's Scabbard holster) join the Virtuoso gear set and Legatus S.p.A. brand set as part of the season's new loot. Read more about new named weapons and talents, season pass rewards, balancing of existing gear, and other updates on the official Division 2 website. Finally, get your friends into the action and unlock new gear for both of you with the revamped Friend Referral Program.
The Division 2 is available now for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, or Epic Games Store), and is included with a Ubisoft+ Classics or Premium subscription.
