Rainbow Six Siege X – Operation High Stakes Operator and Gadget Guide

Operation High Stakes is bringing a new Defender named Denari to Rainbow Six Siege X  who uses his sticky, throwable T.R.I.P. Connector gadgets to design custom laser tripwire grids that damage and slow Attackers. Armed with the new Glaive-12 slug shotgun sidearm, Denari can quickly open lines of sight to make even more complex connections, making him one of the most creative Operators ever to come to Siege.

Operation High Stakes will also deliver modernized versions of the Lair, Nighthaven Labs, and Consulate maps, as well as a new neutral sector assignment - Keres Safe Room - and a new Operator pool for Dual Front mode. Operator balancing updates, weekly Siege Cup scheduling (starting mid-season), R6 Shieldguard security improvements, expanded anti-toxicity measures, and more are all on the way in Operation High Stakes.

Denari's Weapons and Secondary Gadgets

Denari hails from Switzerland and cut his teeth in the Swiss military before joining up with Nighthaven. Armed with the Scorpion EVO 3 SMG or the FMG-9 SMG to accentuate his three-speed mobility, he is well-suited for darting around on the defense, playing off his laser networks. To help Denari punch line-of-sight holes to create his complex laser grids, he wields the new Glaive-12 shotgun sidearm. This compact cannon shoots slugs that can be used for precision destruction of soft surfaces, or soft targets. He also has the option to bring the P226 Mk 25 pistol, and has his choice of deployable shield or observation blocker.

How a TRIP Connector Works

A T.R.I.P. Connector is a sticky, throwable gadget that Denari uses to create laser networks of varying size and complexity. When aiming a Connector toss, Denari can see a preview of where it will land and how it will connect with any other deployed T.R.I.P. Connectors; a blinking line means the connection will be obstructed, while a solid line means the connection will be good. A Connector will automatically create a laser link with any T.R.I.P. Connectors in its line of sight, making it easy to rapidly construct a web of lasers that will make any Attacker think twice before entering the area. Attackers who come in contact with a laser will take damage and have their movement slowed for a few seconds.

How to Create Laser Networks with TRIP Connectors

Two Connectors placed in the corners of a doorway can create a low-profile laser that will make entering a room dangerous, but keep in mind that Attackers take damage for every laser they hit. Why not crisscross a window with a few lasers so that an Attacker swinging in off rappel will take multiple hits, possibly putting them straight into a DBNO state? Or perhaps create a web of lasers of varying heights in a hallway chokepoint to deter flankers or slow down the main push? The only limits are your imagination, your supply of connectors, and line of sight. To help with the latter, Denari's Glaive-12 shotgun allows him to quickly and precisely punch holes or destroy obstacles to make even more ingenious laser networks.

Why Denari's Gadget is So Effective

The lasers are quite visible, so unlike trap Operators who like to hide their gadgets to catch Attackers unaware, Denari's lasers brashly proclaim that you're on his turf now. Attackers have to spend time either dismantling the network or repositioning to avoid it, and this ability to eat up the Attackers' clock is one of Denari's main strengths. Note that unlike Aruni's Surya Gates (which must be manually reactivated after a significant interval once they are triggered), Denari's T.R.I.P. Connector lasers turn back on automatically just a few seconds after triggering. So while Attackers can spend utility or sacrifice health to tank their way through the lasers, the grid will be back at full strength seconds later.

How to Counter TRIP Connectors

Fortunately for Attackers, the laser grids can be taken apart with a little dedication (and judicious Operator choices). The T.R.I.P. Connectors can be destroyed with bullets, melee, or explosives, but a clever Denari will know to keep their Connectors hidden from easy targeting. An impact EMP grenade - or better yet, Thatcher's EMP grenade - will take the grid offline, or some sneaky drone work from Twitch or Brava can help safely dismantle the danger. Zero also excels at this, with his Argus Launcher able to put his laser-armed camera in perfect position to zap hidden connectors. But while Attackers take time to deal with his devious creations, Denari can be swiftly maneuvering himself into position to pounce with his fast-firing SMGs, making him truly a force to reckoned with.

Operation High Stakes Balancing Updates

The new season will also bring a host of updates across many aspects of Rainbow Six Siege, so let's take a quick look at some of the highlights.

  • Modernized maps Lair, Nighthaven Labs, and Consulate join the modernized pool, so take note of the new gas pipe and fire extinguisher locations and enjoy the new lighting.

  • Dual Front introduces Keres Safe Room, a new neutral zone assignment to help teams secure a mid-match advantage, as well as a refreshed pool of Operators.

  • The Reaper MK2 machine pistol is no longer a Rauora exclusive; Sledge, Oryx, Pulse, Rook, and Ying will be able to wield the rapid-fire, sighted sidearm.

  • Magnified scopes are being removed from the arsenal of select Defenders in order to balance their loadouts; Doc, Rook, Frost, Echo, Castle, Tachanka, and Goyo will be affected.

  • Operator balancing updates include Wamai gaining the Super Shorty as a secondary option, Fenrir losing the Bailiff 410, Echo getting a speed boost from 1 to 2, Rook gaining a Nitro Cell option, and Blackbeard's shield now folding while he reloads.

  • Siege Cup will be scheduled every weekend (starting mid-season), and players will be able to see their opponents' top Operators and stats to scout their matchups and plan accordingly.

  • R6 Shieldguard improvements will continue to roll out to bolster the security of the game.

  • Voice chat moderation will join the Reputation System in ongoing anti-toxicity efforts.

  • Privacy mode will now be available to console players, allowing them to play with anonymously generated usernames.
