Ubisoft+ Spotlight - Assassin's Creed Valhalla

(Editorial note: This is a series of quick weekly highlights written by Ubisoft News team writers that feature games available with a Ubisoft+ subscription. We hope you'll enjoy reminiscing with us, or perhaps discover something new.)

Brittany Spurlin, Writer/Editor: Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a gritty dive into ninth-century England, where you'll face threats from enemy armies, the Order of the Ancients, and even within your own clan. As Eivor Varinsdottir, a high-ranking member of the Raven clan, you'll work to expand your Viking settlement, broker alliances, and fight to earn glory and a place in Valhalla. You'll also get to work with two Hidden Ones, Hytham and Basim - the latter of whom is the central character in the upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage - and uncover a conspiracy woven throughout the warring English lords.

Whether you're ransacking forts along the coasts, assassinating an enemy, helping villagers unravel a mystery, or helping a boy wash his smelly father, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is full of adventures. Plus, your decisions in the game will affect your relationships with other in-game characters (most notably Sigurd, Eivor's adoptive brother), and this adds an element of gravitas to any given scenario. Be careful what you choose to do if you want to keep the peace - though romancing Randvi, Sigurd's wife, might be worth any familial strain.

Your adventures aren't limited to the frozen world of Norway or the green English hills - through the local clan witch Valka, you'll be able to become Odin, King of Asgard, and play through several classic tales out of Norse mythology (albeit with an Assassin's Creed twist). In the Dawn of Ragnarök expansion, available as part of the Complete Edition or as a standalone purchase, you can delve even deeper into Norse myth as Odin searches for his kidnapped son and attempts to stop an impending apocalypse.

You can play Assassin's Creed Valhalla Complete Edition today with a Ubisoft+ subscription, play the Standard Edition for free until August 14, or purchase any edition for a $5 Ubisoft Wallet reward until August 17.
