Ubisoft Film and Television and Atlas Entertainment Collaborate on Skull & Bones TV Series

Skull & Bones casts players as a ruthless pirate captain at the end of the Golden Age of Piracy – and now it's being adapted for television. Developed by Atlas Entertainment and Ubisoft Film and Television, Skull & Bones will be a live-action, female-driven pirate drama based on the game.

"Ubisoft is known for creating innovative videogames that combine immense worlds with rich narratives," says Danielle Kreinik, director of development at Ubisoft Film and Television. "We're excited to bring Skull & Bones to audiences through the medium of television and invite them to join in an adventure on this high seas."

Kreinik will executive produce the project alongside Head of Film and Television, Jason Altman. Atlas Entertainment's Andy Horwitz and Richard Suckle (American Hustle, Wonder Woman) will also executive produce, while Robert Amidon will help shepherd the project for Atlas. Amanda Segel will write and executive produce the pilot. Segel's previous credits include serving as executive producer on Spike TV's The Mist and co-executive producer on CBS's Person of Interest. She is currently adapting the novel Autonomous for AMC.

"Skull & Bones is going to be an incredible game, and will make a compelling television series that we're all very excited about at Atlas," says Horwitz. "From the moment we saw the trailer in 2017 we became excited about its potential, and this type of IP is exactly what we've been looking for in television. We very much look forward to this partnership with Ubisoft."

Previously, Atlas Entertainment has helped produce Wonder Woman, Suicide Squad, Bravo's Dirty John (Bravo's highest-rated scripted telecast ever), and four seasons of SyFy's 12 Monkeys. The company's current work includes the upcoming Netflix series What/If starring Renée Zellweger as well as the film Triple Frontier featuring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, and Garrett Hedlund, which will release on Netflix on March 15.

Ubisoft Film and Television is currently producing its first live-action comedy series for Apple, created in partnership with Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Lionsgate Television. Tom Clancy's The Division is currently in development as a feature film with David Leitch attached to direct and Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain attached to star. The film will be produced by Leitch and his producing partner, Kelly McCormick, through their 8711 banner, as well as Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker of Nine Stories and Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films alongside Ubisoft. Additional feature films in development include Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon with Michael Bay attached to executive produce for Warner Brothers Pictures and Just Dance with Olive Bridge Entertainment and Ubisoft to produce for Screen Gems.
