The Division 2 – Details on Free Episodes Revealed, Free Weekend June 13-16 – E3 2019

The fight for Washington, DC has been raging for months in The Division 2, and over the next year, three free episodes will expand the battleground significantly. These new episodes will introduce new areas, modes, rewards, Specializations, and exotic gear and weapons as Agents face new challenges. Read on below for new details on what each free episode will bring.

If you don't own The Division 2 yet, mark your calendars for the free weekend running from Thursday, June 13 to Sunday, June 16 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It'll be the perfect time to explore the open world of DC and take on the diverse enemy factions creating havoc in the streets. And if you decide to purchase the game, not only will you keep all your free weekend progress, but you can also take advantage of discounts of up to 40% from June 7 to June 24.

Episode 1 D.C. Outskirts will take Agents outside of the city proper for the first time to explore the surrounding areas and woodlands as they hunt for President Ellis and the leader of the Outcasts. Among these areas will be the Washington National Zoo, where Agents will deal with threats throughout 11 different biomes. This episode will also introduce Expeditions mode, which will confront players with cooperative challenges to take on every week as they progress through different wings of Trinity College. Episode 1 D.C. Outskirts will release in July 2019, and Year 1 Pass holders will get early access to the episode one week before it launches for all players.

Episode 2 Pentagon: The Last Castle is slated for fall 2019. Agents will have to deal with elevated Black Tusk activity and tackle three new main missions inside one of America's most iconic buildings. Additionally, The Division 2's toughest challenge—Operation Dark Hours—will be getting some company as Episode 2 introduces a second 8-player raid. This time, players will travel to a remote foundry and take on the True Sons.

Episode 3 will take players back to New York City to confront new challenges at Coney Island. A nemesis is trying to spread the Green Poison virus, and a showdown is imminent when this episode arrives in early 2020.

The Division 2 is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, and it will also be available on Stadia. Get more insight into the development process by reading about how the team uses the Snowdrop engine, and catch up on the latest patch updates by perusing our Division 2 coverage.
