The Division 2 Launches Episode 2 – Pentagon: The Last Castle

It's a big day for The Division 2. Episode 2 — Pentagon: The Last Castle launches today for Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers, giving Agents a new slate of locations to visit and missions to take on, as well as a new signature weapon with which to tackle them. (The new content will be available free to all players on October 22). Today also marks the release of Title Update 6, which brings extensive changes and improvements to loot, crafting, inventory, Dark Zones, and more for all players.

The Division 2 will be playable for free across all platforms from October 17-20. Any progress you make during the free weekend will carry over should you decide to purchase the game, which will be on sale for up to 70% on the PlayStation Store (Oct. 15-28), Microsoft Store (Oct. 17-27), Uplay Store (Oct. 17-28), and Epic Store (Oct. 17-20).

The new main missions of Episode 2 have you back on the hunt for a way to stop the deadly outbreak, and take you to the Pentagon to secure a device that could replicate the life-saving antivirus before the Black Tusk can get their hands on it. First, you must secure a safe house at the iconic military command center, from which you can run the two main missions, titled Pentagon and DARPA Research Labs. There are also two new Classified Assignments, exclusive to Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers, which take place in a not-so-abandoned marina and an embassy where a military helicopter has crashed.

Episode 2 also introduces a new Specialization — the Technician — with a new signature weapon: the P-017 Launcher. It can target up to six enemies at once, and then launch homing missiles to take them out. With an Artificer Hive to boost deployed skills and an EMP grenade to damage and destroy enemy drones and skills, a Technician can have a big impact on the battlefield. The new Specialization is available now for Year 1 Pass holders and UPLAY+ subscribers; all other players can unlock the Technician by completing a series of research objectives.

Episode 2 also includes a new Team Elimination mode for PVP, as well as a new map called Wharf where players can duke it out. And Expeditions are returning, giving players two weeks to take on all investigation areas of Kenly College and try to earn rewards through the new Mastery system (not to mention the exotic Diamondback rifle, awarded for completing Kenly College for the first time). After the initial two weeks, Expeditions will close for two weeks, then open up for one week to establish the new cyclical schedule of two weeks down, one week up.

Title Update 6 delivers a host of improvements, fueled by community feedback and ranging across a number of game systems. From updates to the loot, crafting, and recalibration systems to increased stash space and improved inventory management, many of these changes are aimed to help you better tailor your loadouts and hunt down new gear. To read up on more of the changes that are live now for all players, including Dark Zones updates and more, check out our article on Title Update 6.

The Division 2 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For the latest from the team's weekly State of the Game updates and more, check out our Division 2 hub.
