Ubisoft Announces Leadership for Creative House 2

Ubisoft today announced Christoph Hartmann as General Manager of Creative House 2, one of the five Creative Houses which form the heart of the new structure revealed by the company earlier this year.

The newly designed structure is intended to give the company more creative agility and bring brands closer to their players, organizing its studios together by the types of experiences they will create and the brands they will be responsible for. Creative House 2 is focused on developing games which offer competitive and cooperative battlefield-based gameplay experiences, covering brands such as The Division, Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and the recently acquired March of Giants. Hartmann’s role is to oversee strategic direction and development of the studios and brands under Creative House 2.

“Christoph has an exceptional track record of shaping strong creative teams and bringing together the best development and publishing expertise to build long-lasting franchises,” said Yves Guillemot, co-founder and CEO, Ubisoft. “His experience and management style are perfectly aligned with our ambitions for our new operating model, where exemplary GMs lead empowered, agile, and accountable Creative Houses. I am confident Christoph will help elevate these teams and franchises to new heights and deepen their connection with the passionate, dedicated players who love this genre."

Christoph Hartmann joins Ubisoft with a long and successful career in video games under his belt. With over 20 years of experience, he is a co-founder and former President of 2K Games, held multiple roles at Take-Two Interactive, and has led the teams behind popular franchises like Borderlands, BioShock, Sid Meier’s Civilization, NBA 2K, and XCOM, and supported the Grand theft auto franchise in its early years. He was most recently Vice President at Amazon Games, making him perfectly placed to oversee the March of Giants team who were recently acquired from Amazon.

“Some of the strongest memories in games come from overcoming something together, the mission you barely survive, the comeback you did not expect, the moment a team clicks,” said Christoph Hartmann, General Manager, Ubisoft. “The talented teams at March of Giants, Massive, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Paris, and Ubisoft Toronto are creating game worlds filled with those kinds of moments for millions of dedicated players. With Creative House 2, our goal is to respect their passion, listen closely to what they love, and create intense, high-quality experiences they want to keep coming back to.”
