In case you've been stranded on a desert island the last few months, Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up remake of the iconic adventure of Edward Kenway, Assassin-Pirate extraordinaire. Enhanced, improved, and reworked as a modern experience while staying true to the beloved original, you'll return to the Caribbean to experience Edward's rise from peasant to privateer to pirate to Assassin and every twist and turn along the way.

What Does Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced Improve?

While Black Flag Resynced is a faithful adaptation of the original game you know and love, we've added a number of practical upgrades over the original game, including major improvements in graphics, new story content, and quality-of-life updates. A stunning graphical overhaul includes raytracing across all platforms, micropolygon rendering for increased levels of detail, beautiful and realistic water simulations, and much more. Modernized performance, new story content and scenes with the original cast and a few new ones to boot, and a number of improvements to modernize outdated systems and mechanics all contribute to an experience that feels like the game you know and love, but looks and plays like a modern game should.

New Story and Gameplay Content

• Recruit Officers to the Jackdaw and benefit from their unique abilities, with three Officers to recruit and each having their own brand-new questline to follow

• New missions and scenes recorded with Matt Ryan, Edward's original performance capture artist

• Customizations and all-new pets for the Jackdaw

• Kenway's Fleet added to the game and fully integrated into gameplay

• Shanties old and new with the original set of songs plus 10 brand-new ones to collect, and a special Resynced version of Leave Her Johnny by Woodkid!

• New endgame chapter "A World Without Gold" introduces an additional eight-mission storyline centered on Blackbeard, expanding his character and narrative role late in the game

• Brand-new Blackbeard treasure quest introduces additional narrative content expanding Blackbeard's character and motivations on a hunt for riches

• A new epilogue for Stede Bonnet with a new story quest providing closure for the gentleman pirate

Combat Improvements

• Fully reworked combat for the modern era

• Parry-based fighting with deeper tactics that focus on timing and reactivity

• New brutal takedowns for more visceral combat

• Gun kata and quick-fire pistol combos

• The Demolitionist enemy archetype for a more challenging opponent in combat

Stealth Overhaul

• Observe mode added from Assassin's Creed Shadows to help you keep track of your targets and increase your situational awareness

• Crouch anywhere to lower your profile and make it harder to be spotted, not just when you're in cover

• Light and shadow now play a role in your visibility, so when and how you decide to stalk your prey will make a difference in the challenge you face

• Hood up or down is now a choice you can make with a button press; it doesn't contribute to stealth but you'll be able to feel the part of an Assassin or not as you choose

• Dive anywhere to approach a seafront location in total stealth or explore beneath the waves

Naval Gameplay Additions

• Seamless naval-to-land exploration removes loading screens between sailing and land-based gameplay thanks to modern hardware

• Shrapnel barrels allow you to damage enemy sails with weaker attacks over a large area

• 8-pounder cannons allow you to exploit additional weak points in the hulls of enemy ships

• Reworked enemy factions provide a deeper challenge, with each faction having access to different weapons and tactics

• Secondary firing modes for the Jackdaw's arsenal alongside additions like the Ram Dash move, heated shot, and more

• Naval Wanted System and Pirate Hunters return with high notoriety actions triggering stronger enemy ships which actively pursue the player across the seas

Parkour Improvements

• Manual jump added for finer control over traversal

• Side ejects allow Edward to push of walls and navigate tighter spaces with more control

• Height-gaining back ejects allow you to climb without breaking the flow of a run to run around or reposition

• Faster interrupts add even more control, allowing you to switch up your moves on a dime

Graphical and Technical Enhancements

Let's be honest, while we love the original Black Flag as much as you, it was showing its age. Resynced was a chance to write a love letter to the best and most iconic things about the game while making it look and run like a game in 2026, and we really think it looks great. World and Atmosphere

• Anvil Atmos is a dynamic weather system combining multiple simulations to create realistic weather with a real effect on gameplay
• Breakable objects create a more realistic world, with objects falling and smashing off windowsills as Edward parkours past them or boxes and crates smashing as an enemy is thrown against them

UI, HUD, and Difficulty Customization

• Fully customizable HUD with full control to toggle on/off every element that appears on the screen

• __Four HUD presets __for simple and at a touch control --- Default, Simple, Minimal, and Disabled

• Cleaner and more modern design with adaptive elements that only appear when relevant

• Customizable difficulty settings allow players to independently and separately adjust the challenge of Combat, Stealth, Naval, and Activities gameplay with Forgiving, Intended, and Hard options
