Season 7 of the worldwide Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Pro League kicks off this week. As the Pro League prepares to shift to a new schedule for Year 3 of Rainbow Six Siege, Season 7 will act as a transition. Running a bit shorter than previous season, Season 7 will end in May, culminating in a final between eight of the most competitive Pro League teams from around the world.
Following the shortened Season 7, Season 8 will roll out in June 2018 and see the format change to two six-month-long seasons per year. Coming with the new season format are changes to the match structure itself. From now on, teams will have to compete in a full league format, and each team will have to play two best-of-one matches against every other opponent, with $275,000 on the line at the end of each season. There are also big changes coming to Major tournaments. While the Six Invitational will still be hosted in Montreal in February, August will see the addition of a second Major in the form of the Six Major Paris competition.
Rainbow Six Siege is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. For more information on all the changes coming to the Rainbow Six Pro League, head here, and to learn more about the new Operators and limited-time Outbreak event, check out our previous coverage of Rainbow Six Siege.
