Rob McElhenney on Mythic Quest Season 4: “We Look to the Culture”

Mythic Quest Season 4's first two episodes are available now on Apple TV+, with the rest of the episodes releasing weekly on Wednesdays through the finale on March 26. The latest season of the workplace comedy features the newly reunited team at Mythic Quest wrestling with fresh challenges in an ever-changing videogame landscape, like AI and content moderation. Stars will rise, egos will clash, and everyone is trying to have a little more work work-life balance.

"I'm really proud of the entire cast continuing to just bring it on a daily basis," says Rob McElhenney, star, creator, and executive producer of Mythic Quest. "It actually starts in the writers room - the writers go in day after day after day and really look to the culture to see what's relevant, talk to people in the industry to figure out what's trending, and try to put our finger on the pulse of what a workplace environment is like. Everybody continues to dig deep and give it everything they've got, because we're so fortunate to have this job, and we don't take for granted the fact that people are interested in watching it."

On March 26, all four episodes of Mythic Quest's spin-off Side Quest will launch exclusively on Apple TV+. Inspired by Mythic Quest's breakaway episodes, Side Quest is an anthology series that explores the lives of employees, players, and fans who are impacted by the game.

"We got to tell four different stories with really different characters, and they're all funny and have really amazing casts," says Ashly Burch, who executive produced and wrote Side Quest alongside Katie McElhenney and John Howell Harris. "Each episode says something relatable and meaningful about what it means to be a creative, a person, a person in a relationship, or part of a community. I think that people, even if you don't watch Mythic Quest, or even if you don't know video games, can see yourself in these stories."

Mythic Quest stars Rob McElhenney, Charlotte Nicdao, David Hornsby, Danny Pudi, Ashly Burch, Imani Hakim, Jessie Ennis, and Naomi Ekperigin, and is executive produced by McElhenney, Hornsby, Megan Ganz, and Charlie Day. Michael Rotenberg and Nicholas Frenkel produce for 3 Arts Entertainment; and Margaret Boykin, Austin Dill, and Gerard Guillemot produce for Ubisoft Film & Television.

Side Quest stars McElhenney, Derek Waters, William Standford Davis, Bria Henderson, Rome Flynn, and Annamarie Kasper, among others. Burch, John Howell Harris, and Katie McElhenney executive produced alongside Rob McElhenney, Ganz, Hornsby, and Day. Rotenberg and Frenkel produce for 3 Arts Entertainment; and Boykin and Genevieve Jones produce for Ubisoft Film & Television.

You can watch Mythic Quest Season 4, as well as Side Quest when it launches, exclusively on Apple TV+.
