Play Brawlhalla's New Daily Minigame, Brawldle, Today

Brawldle, inspired by the likes of Wordle and Gamedle, is the latest minigame to keep Brawlhalla players busy. Brawldle launched on November 13, 2024, and while it's seen a few updates thanks to community feedback, it's gearing up for the next big change: adding a new Legend to its rotating Legend of the day queue with the arrival of Priya in Brawlhalla very soon. Priya, aka the Radiant Blade, is Brawlhalla's 65th Legend, and will bring a new weapon type to the game, the Chakram, while the Sword will be her secondary weapon. And by playing Brawldle today, you might get a sneak peek at Priya's stats - but as you share with your community, be sure you don't spoil the Legend stats of the day.

Brawldle's gameplay closely resembles Wordle, with a few key differences.

  • Instead of letters, you use stats, Weapons, and release year to figure out the Legend

  • If a stat shows up as yellow, it means the number is one or two away from the correct stat number. If it's red, you're three or more off base, and if it's green, you have the correct number for the correct stat.

  • Weapons are paired together; a yellow result means only one of the two Weapons is correct for the Legend of the day, and it's up to you to figure out which one it is. If it's red, it means the Legend doesn't use either Weapon, and if it's green, you found the correct Weapon combination

  • Year colors represent a spectrum; if it's yellow, you're close to finding the correct release year; if it's red, you're quite far off; and if it's green, you got it right

  • You have five guesses instead of six

To learn more about Brawldle, its inception and development, how the community has shaped the game, and tips for winning every day, we spoke to Blue Mammoth Lead Video Producer Duc and Software Developer Creed.

How did the idea for Brawldle come about?

Duc: Creed and I are really big fans of the New York Times minigames, and we also follow a streamer by the name of Northernlion, who plays a bunch of similar spinoffs like Gamedle and things like that. One day I was watching, and had this thought of 'what would a Brawlhalla version look like?' I sat on the idea for a bit, and then one day was like you know what? What if we actually put this together? I sent Creed a document, and he recommended adding this thing and that thing, and changed up the colors to make it readable to the user, and it grew from there.

How much development went into Brawldle? How was the back and forth between the two of you?

Creed: As far as development goes, it was pretty straightforward. The nice thing was that it wasn't a completely original concept; there have been a lot of different games that have done this sort of daily puzzle thing. I had a lot of different places to draw inspiration from, to look at what kind of designs people use, what I like seeing as a player, and then adding little bits of flair here and there to our game, like the streak counter that shows up in the game, when you go to share it, or the confetti that pops up when you get the right answer.

Duc: One of the things we ended up discussing between us was how we would do the Weapon set. In my head, it was really complex, but Creed showed me that it would be really easy to do. And then he had the idea of adding the Legend release dates - in my head, I was like, nobody's going to know those things, but after release a lot of people said it was actually really helpful in narrowing down exactly which Legend was correct.

Do you have any advice for players who maybe play Brawlhalla but don't know specific stats off the top of their head?

Duc: Personally, some of the things that have helped me are going off of the Legend release. I'll pick someone in the middle, like Ragnir, and then that will tell me if I need to look at a Legend who was released earlier or more recently, cutting my guessing pool in half. I'd also lean on the Weapons, because I think most people are really comfortable knowing those. Again going off Ragnir as a guess - he has an Axe and Katars, and I got one of those Weapons correct. So maybe next I'll go Brynn, to see if the right combo is an Axe and a Spear. If that's not correct, I'll go to Sentinel to see if the right combo is Katars and a Hammer. That method with the Legend release dates can really help narrow it down.

If you do want to lean on stats, I recommend picking an extreme stat and going down from there. For example, Xull is one of the highest strength Legends in the game, and Queen Nai is one of the higher defense Legends in the game. Combining those different values will help narrow it down, even if you don't know every single specific state line for every Legend.

Creed: Building off of that, personally, every time I play Brawlhalla, I'm always looking at the stats at the beginning of every one of my matches to see the exact numbers. I have a general idea when going up against a certain Legend that they have a lot of strength or don't have a lot of defense, but before I never actually paid attention to the other stats that are more down the middle. Since Brawldle, I've cognizantly been trying to memorize more of the stats just by playing the game.

And regarding what Duc said about Weapons and release dates, I think the thing that really helps me is knowing the core Weapons that came with the early closed beta in 2014, and then generally knowing what remaining Legends or Weapons came out over the course of the next 11 years and where they are in the timeline will really help. For example, I've guessed a Legend and know they have an Orb, which didn't come out until 2018, so I can focus on guessing Legends released after that.

How has the community responded to Brawldle? Have they given any feedback about the game?

Creed: From a numbers perspective, people are playing it, and most importantly they're coming back day-to-day, which is cool to see. I think the percentage of people who are getting it right has slowly crept up over time, which is great. Because of the sharing feature, where you get to show off what your score is for the day, we see that on different social media platforms, and see people discussing it like 'oh, today I particularly struggled because of XYZ' which is always fun to see.

One thing we didn't think of that actually became pretty important for a certain subset of players was the order in which stats are presented. When you get queued in a game, the stats go in a certain order, and there are quite a few people who memorize Legend stats based on that order. In the first iteration of Brawldle, we had a different stat order. And so a few people said it was throwing them off, so we updated Brawldle to make it more consistent.

Duc: What's really fun is that there are a lot of people who are known for playing a single Legend, and almost every single time their Legend is the Brawldle for that day, they'll get a message about it from community members.

The thing that surprised me was how many people were fact checking us, and they told me exactly when I was wrong about Legend stats. And that's amazing and awesome, because they care and know the game that well.

Brawlhalla is always increasing its roster, and Priya is joining soon. Can players expect to see new Legends implemented into Brawldle as they enter the game?

Creed: I would say there won't be any delay in adding new Legends as a guessable option. It mostly just depends on the randomness of when the Legend shows up as the correct answer; we're not always going to have the new Legend as the Brawldle answer on the day they release. That would be too easy. But definitely keep your eye out, make sure you know what their stats and their Weapons are, because at some point they'll be there.

Brawlhalla is free to play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and iOS and Android devices.
