Assassin's Creed Odyssey will arrive in novel form on October 30 in North America, and publisher Penguin has revealed the cover. Centering on Kassandra, one of the game's two selectable protagonists, the novel focuses on key events in the storyline, following one of many possible paths that players will be able to take through the game when it launches on October 5. At the same time, the book also goes beyond what the game can portray, giving readers a look inside the characters' heads and deeper insight into their motivations.
Raised in the forge of a Spartan upbringing, Kassandra ekes out a living as a mercenary on the isle of Kephallonia, where a tragedy has left her stranded for years. Riddled with debt, she's offered a potentially life-changing mission by a mysterious stranger; thus begins an odyssey that takes her through the battle lines between Athens and Sparta, and into the maw of a conspiracy that wants to destroy her.
Written by Gordon Doherty – an author whose historical fiction includes the Legionary series and Strategos trilogy, set in the Roman and Byzantine empires, respectively – the Assassin's Creed Odyssey novel will be available on October 30, and can be pre-ordered through Amazon or other booksellers. The game, meanwhile, will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 5; to find out more, check out our previous Assassin's Creed Odyssey coverage.
