Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, the animated series based on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, is now streaming globally on Netflix. In this first-ever screen adaptation of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell franchise, legendary agent Sam Fisher (Liev Schreiber) is drawn back into the field when a wounded young operative seeks out his help. All eight episodes of the first season are available to watch now, and if you look closely, you may spot a few familiar references to Splinter Cell lore and other Ubisoft games. - Episode 3: When Sam's fake identity is discovered by Gunther and Freya's goons, some of his known aliases are mentioned: Vladimir Stravinsky (from the novel Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Operation Barracuda), Kaufmann (from the novel Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Fallout), Carpenter (from the game Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent), Jean-Pierre Martin (also from Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Double Agent).
- Episode 3: When Grim's phone is hacked, the security certificates appearing on her screen are filled with Splinter Cell references:
- "4THEC" is for 4th Echelon
- "OPerational SATellite Uplink /" (usually shortened as OPSAT) is the multi-purpose device used by Fourth Echelon operatives.
- "IceQueen" is the codename for Grim in the games.
- "Conviction2011" is a reference to Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, which takes place in 2011.
- « GRM-8704VA » : « GRM » is for Grim, "8704VA" is a reference to the date and place (August 7, 2004, Virginia) of Sam and Grim's first encounter in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell.
- "Mgd0" is a reference to a mysterious organization behind the events of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction, and also referenced in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist and the novel Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Firewall.
- Episode 4 & 5: The Douglas/Sam flashbacks are a depiction of the "Bagram Incident" in Afghanistan and its subsequent trial, two pivotal events in Douglas Shetland's story hinted in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow (in a data disk Sam is given in the first mission).
- Episode 7: The Douglas/Sam flashback scene in Tokyo is a retelling of their memorable final face-off in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.
- Episode 7: Colonel Irving Lambert and young Grim can be recognized in the photographs that Sam drops into the fire in the bathhouse. Lambert was Sam Fisher's primary handler, close friend, and program director during his time at Third Echelon.
