Morbid Metal Adds Fourth Playable Character: Kaizu

Morbid Metal has added Kaizu to its roster, the fourth playable character in the game. In the hack-and-slash roguelike, developed by Screen Juice, you'll make your way through a gritty and brutal world, uncovering fragments of a forgotten truth about mankind's downfall. Playing as the latest combat AI, created by the Operator and guided by Eden, you can also seamlessly shapeshift between characters mid-combat. Each character had unique abilities, allowing you to chain attacks and master lethal combinations with different playstyles.

Kaizu was built out of rage instead of purpose, and is a close-range brawler constantly pushing the offensive instead of moving to retreat. The full roster of playable characters now includes:

  • Kaizu
  • Flux
  • Ekku
  • Vekta

Kaizu Lore and Gameplay

Kaizu came closer than any model before him to defeating the Operator. Facing inevitable defeat, with Eden's help, he manages to escape into the Void, evading an endless cycle of imprisonment and death like all the other failed models before. Eden now keeps him protected in the Void, preserving him as a benchmark for future creations while seeking to harness the power within him to finally free the Simulation from the Operator.

He had six Protocols, each with its own Routine Tree:

  • Leap (Q) - Launches at a target and slams down, flattening everything in the impact zone. Applies Vulnerable
  • Combo Kick (Q) - Chains off regular attacks into escalating kicks, heavier the longer the chain
  • Rage (E) - A scream that damages everything nearby and leaves him stacking buffs
  • Void Boulder (E) - Tears open a rift and throws what is behind it. Applies Vulnerable
  • Lariat (R) - Charges a target and takes the head off, hitting everything in the lane
  • Gattling (R) - Winds up and unloads a stream of hits that escalates the longer it runs

Enemies with a Vulnerable status take more damage, and will keep their Vulnerable status when you shift into another character. Empower will also add a stack to every stackable Corpora and buff Kaizu already has active.

Kaizu's attacks chain together in a nice one-two-uppercut combo: use Leap or Void Boulder to make your target Vulnerable, hit them with Rage or Gattling to put buffs onto Kaizu, and then unleash Lariat to finish enemies off.
