Play The Division 2’s Dust Storm Event Today!

The Division 2 is calling all Agents to the field for its limited-time Dust Storm event. Lower Manhattan has been transformed by a dynamic sandstorm, and now it's time to see New York as you never have before. Running today through August 11, The Dust Storm event features:

  • Free Warlords of New York access for the duration of the event
  • New Weather Conditions
  • New event bosses - Dust Devils
  • New Hunter encounter
  • Exclusive event rewards
  • Login reward

As you explore this sandstorm-ravaged New York, you can find up to 20 caches of loot in decorated areas, which you can break to get some of the gear found in Event Vendor Gear Caches. Dust Devils will repair these caches daily, so you can keep looting gear throughout the event.

Dust Storms

Dust storms are ravaging the streets of New York, obscuring your visibility, adding an extra layer of difficulty to gameplay. There are two levels of dust storms in effect:

  • Calm Dust Storm: the default when loading into the map, it obscures sightlines and keeps you on your toes. It lasts approximately 18 minutes before escalating, and the timer will reset with each login.
  • Raging Dust Storm: Visibility is further impaired, and intense wind sounds are designed to disorient you and affect your ability to hear enemies – and their ability to hear you. This phase lasts eight minutes before resetting to Calm Dust Storm or a brief sunny respite.

Dust Devils

The Raging Dust Storm also gives you an opportunity to hide from Dust Devils, a new group of Rikers who are using the effects of the storm for their own nefarious purposes. Every six minutes, a group of 4 named enemies will spawn in a Dust Devil Kill Squad and hunt you down. They have three modifiers:

  • Status Resistance Modifier
    • 0% Status Resistance if Agents are between 0-25 meters
    • 80% Status Resistance if Agents are further than 26 meters
  • Decrease Damage Dealt
    • Reduces damage by 20% to Agents between 5-25 meters
    • Reduces damage by 50% to Agents further than 26 meters
  • Increase Damage Taken
    • Takes 50% more damage from Agents between 0-10 meters
    • Takes 20% more damage from Agents between 11-25 meters

Once you take down enough Dust Devils, one of their two bosses will spawn:

  • Pall hides in the storm as a sniper using Sniper Turret and Decoy tech, while being invisible to Pulse scanning.
  • Black Lung acts as a tank, using an LMG to lay down heavy fire and is supported by an Artillery Turret.

When a Dust Devil boss spawns, you’ll receive an option to call for backup. The first time you defeat each boss, you’ll receive a unique mask, and they’ll drop a Storm Key every time you beat them.

The Scoured Hunter

A greater threat than the Dust Devils roams the streets of lower Manhattan, attacking SHD agents when the Raging Dust Storm has subsided. Not much is known about the Scoured Hunter except they carry Storm Keys and wear a distinctive mask, which players can acquire by defeating the Hunter.

Dust Storm Caches and Rewards

When you log into The Division 2 to play the Dust Storm event, you’ll automatically be rewarded with the Parched Headgear.

  • NGN
  • Charles
  • FelipeRaamos

Each creator has their own Project Chain, a series of activities in Named Zones that takes you across New York. Next steps will unlock daily, building on prior tasks, though you can progress at your own pace. As you progress through Project Chains, you can earn:

  • Named Item Caches
  • Exotic Components
  • Recalibration Caches

As you explore the world and complete activities, you may also find creator-themed apparel hidden throughout New York. Completing a Project Chain will reward you with an exclusive backpack inspired by the specific creator.

Realism Mode Returns

For the duration of the Dust Storm event, players can relive Realism Mode, which offers you a chance to operate in a more grounded, unforgiving way. Taking place in the Warlords of New York campaign, fights are faster and more lethal for Agents and enemies alike. In Realism Mode, you’ll find:

  • A reduced interface, encouraging you to read your surroundings
  • Ammo recovered directly from defeated enemies
  • Longer skill cooldown
  • Gear and weapon bonuses altered (ex: heavy pieces provided increased protection at the cost of mobility, and lighter gear provides speed and flexibility at the cost of survivability)

You can also earn gear rewards while playing Realism Mode:

  • Complete Liberty Island mission to receive Salt Flat MK46 LMG Skin
  • Compete Liberty Island with a Hardcore Character to also receive Kill Count MK46 LMG Skin
  • Complete Realism Mode with a Hardcore Character to receive the Arid Forest Camo KSG Shotgun skin and Concrete Camo Police M4 skin
