Ubisoft+ Spotlight - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

(Editorial note: This is a series of quick weekly highlights written by Ubisoft News team writers that feature games available with a Ubisoft+ subscription. We hope you'll enjoy reminiscing with us, or perhaps discover something new.)

Brittany Spurlin, Write/Editor: Remember that time you ransacked an ancient city with your dad and found a powerful dagger, only to have your advisor trick you into using that dagger to unleash a curse on your kingdom? Well, the Prince of Persia certainly does. In Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, you take on the role of an unnamed Prince who must wield the dark and mystical powers of the Dagger of Time to defeat the evil Vizier and save your kingdom from a curse of your own making. It's a story full of ancient magics, sand creatures, love, and betrayal, and you should dive into the adventure today.

Gameplay in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is acrobatic in both the mental and physical sense. You'll need to keep your wits about you to navigate the game's puzzles successfully, and to know when to wield the powers of the Dagger at the right moment; meanwhile, the Prince will traverse areas with his signature wall-running, as well as by swinging on ropes and jumping across rooftops. Throughout the game, you'll be able to rely on help from Farah, whose bow and arrows and deep knowledge about the Dagger of Time will be critical to your success.

A spotlight on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time wouldn't be complete without talking about, well, the Sands of Time - specifically, the powers they grant you. With the Dagger, the Prince can manipulate time to his benefit; he can rewind time by up to 10 seconds, giving you the chance to undo taking a fatal blow, letting Farah perish, or accidentally jumping into the abyss. He can also slow - or completely freeze - time for one or more sand monsters, giving him a significant speed buff on attacks. But the power of the Dagger is finite; it relies on units of Sand Tanks to power its magical abilities, and you'll need to collect more Sand in order to refill the dagger and rewind time again. Be sure to make each use of the Dagger count!

You can play Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time today with a Ubisoft+ subscription.
